Lifted - subtitling a Pixar short

3rd time i've done subtitling a cartoon as a way of getting students to use 'recyclable vocabulary'. The focus was on using superlatives & comparatives but it's a good open and fun task which allows students to experiment with different Spanish phrases.  I used the Pixar short 'Lifted' and gave my students this Powerpoint in an ICT suite lesson before setting it as homework to complete. I used Movie maker to add the subtitles when i'd graded them and the best one is below.

Distraxion - Subtitles using interrogatives

This is the 2nd project i've done using short films where i get my class to write subtitles focusing on a specific vocab area (interrogatives here) as well as use of recyclable vocab. Powerpoint contains lesson material for interrogatives + the slides I used in the ICT suite lesson. After a week, i took the work in and used movie maker to add the best 3 students' subtitles - one of which is below.

Oktapodi - Using exclamations to write Spanish subtitles.

This is a lesson on exclamations in Spanish which led on to an ICT suite activity where my students used this vocab to write subtitles to the animated short film 'Oktapodi'. There are exercises, grammar and a Blockbusters game related to exclamations within the file. I used moviemaker to add the subtitles on to the best 3 in the class - one of which is underneath. I feel guilty when i see this as i enjoyed many an 'oktapodi' on my honeymoon on the lovely island of Santorini last year.

'La leyenda del espantapájaros' - Spanish short film + worksheet

Some exercises and question to go with this really inspiring short film by an Argentinian director Carlos Lascano. Well worth using in A-Level/GCSE classes.
